#603. Calcium-Magnesium

Copious calcium is mandatory for healthy cellular function. It also tremendously aids oxygen assimilation and oxygen of course kills unhealthy  bacteria, viruses and fungi  and provides the catalysts for most cellular functions.

Calcium is the most prominent mineral in the human body. I've read that red meat leeches calcium and that the RDA may be many times too low for optimal calcium supply.

Calcium is crucial to maintain life; without it we would die. Over 35% of the body’s mineral makeup consists of calcium, which literally performs hundreds of operations essential to our everyday lives. In fact, almost every cell in the body, including those in the heart, the nerves and the muscles, relies on calcium to function properly. Also, calcium is used by the body for building strong bones in childhood, maintaining density in adults, and reducing the likelihood of fractures as we age.

In addition to regulating our bodies, calcium is known to help us fight disease. Nutritionists have identified over 200 diseases related to calcium deficiency. Some of these diseases include cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and Osteoporosis.

Because calcium is so important, the body has a carefully regulated system to ensure that a good supply is always, and immediately, available when needed. The body does this in three ways:

*It absorbs calcium directly from your diet.
*It takes calcium from your bones if there is not enough available when it is needed, which causes osteoporosis (porous bone).
*It slows down the amount of calcium that leaves the body in the urine by returning some to the blood stream in an attempt to help organs and cells function.

Unfortunately, many modern day diets do not contain the requisite amount of calcium. This is why millions of Americans suffer from osteoporosis, heart disease, bone disorders, and many other ailments associated with calcium deficiency.

Because it is the most abundant mineral in the human body, calcium needs to be taken in large amounts and with approximately 50% magnesium.
